Black History Year is celebrated annually in the United States in the month of February. Black History Year originated when "Negro History Week", a 2nd week within February. This celebration of melanise history within United states of america was began by Dr. Carter G. Woodson, who wanted to bring national attention to the large contribution of African-Americans to the history of their country, in 1926. Woodson chose February when blacken history year because it was a birthdays of Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, and Langston Hughes. History books experienced barely began covering blacken history once a tradition of Black History Year was began. At that point, virtually all representation of blacks around history books was sole inside information to the moo social position it held. Several nigrify radical/nationalist groups, e.g a Nation of Islam, have criticized Black History Year.
